É formada por: Rey Parra (ex-Sacred Warrior) nos vocais; George Rene Ochoa (ex-Deliverance e ex-Recon) e Eddi Starline Lopez (ex-Recon) nas guitarras; Mike Grato (ex- Recon e ex-Deliverance) no baixo; Ronson Webster (ex-Recon e ex- Barren Cross) e Todd Libby (ex-Recon) nos teclados e Johnny Gonzales (ex-Recon) na bateria. O som que nos é apresentado é um Prog Metal bem dosado, o álbum "The Chosen Few" será lançado ainda esse ano. Já dá para ver através desse single a qualidade que vai ser!

PILLAR

Pillar é uma banda de metal cristão. A banda teve origem em 1998 com a missão de transmitir uma mensagem do Cristianismo em sua cidade natal Hayes, Kansas. Pillar como significado de "Coluna", foi recebido de braços abertos pelas pessoas de uma Igreja, com um som agressivo e letras espirituais.

Formação

Pillar começou em Hayes, Kansas em 1998, quando os companheiros de quarto da Universidade Fort Hays State Brad Noone e Rob Beckley tinham em comum os amigos Travis Jenkins, Dustin Adams, e Michael Wittig, este último conhecido como Kalel.[1] Em 1999, a banda lançou o primeiro álbum, Metamorphosis, através da sua própria gravadora independente Shadrach Records. Após algumas apresentações no Kansas, lançaram o seu segundo álbum de estúdio, Original Superman, em 2000. Nesta altura, mudam-se para Tulsa, em Oklahoma com o objetivo de alcançar um maior número de fãs.

Pouco depois do lançamento do segundo álbum, a banda foi mencionada pela gravadora Flicker Records, com que assinaram contrato em meados de 2000. Após a assinatura, a banda retirou algumas das faixas do disco Original Superman,bem como algumas das novas faixas do novo álbum de estúdio, Above, que se tornaria no primeiro grande lançamento da gravadora. O disco teve um relativo sucesso, tendo vendido cerca de 60 mil cópias. A faixa "Open Your Eyes" ganhou um Dove Award em 2001 para a categoria Hard Music Song of the Year.

Fireproof
Em 2002, Noah Henson ficou encarregue da guitarra, e a banda lançou um novo disco, Fireproof. O álbum vendeu mais de 300 mil cópias e lançou a banda para uma tormé nacional pelos Estados Unidos. O disco ganhou também dois Dove Awards. Anos mais tarde a banda voltou ao estúdio com o disco Fireproof, tendo trabalhado nele para um som mais rico, incluíram-no um DVD bónus, tendo inserido no mercado duas versões do mesmo álbum. Pouco depois o baterista Lester Estelle, Jr. juntou-se à banda.

Where Do We Go from Here
Em 2004, Pillar lançam o seu novo álbum Where Do We Go from Here. Tornou-se um álbum de referência entre os fãs do rock cristão. O disco incluía vários êxitos, entre eles "Bring Me Down", e "Frontline" que estiveram nos tops durante meses.

Nothing Comes for Free e The Reckoning
A banda lançou um EP chamado Nothing Comes for Free em Junho de 2006. Incluía três faixas novas. Entre elas "Everything" e quatro faixas gravadas ao vivo. As outras dua faixas "Our Escape" e "Danguerous", não estiveram no álbum seguinte The Reckoning. O EP esteve apenas disponível nos seus concertos e na sua loja virtual, apenas 10 mil cópias foram disponibilizadas. No início de 2006, a banda estava de regresso ao estúdio para gravar o seu novo disco. Travis Wyrick produziu o novo álbum, bem como todos os seus anteriores; foi lançado a 3 de Outubro de 2006. Pelo lançamento deste álbum a banda foi em torné para promover este disco, chamando-a de "The Days of the Reckoning Tour", tendo sido realizada de Outubro a Novembro do mesmo ano. Igualmente outras bandas cristãs estiveram na torne, tais como Day of Fire, The Showdown, e Decyfer Down. O disco recebeu uma nomeação para os Grammy Awards em 6 de Dezembro de 2006, na categoria Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album. Esta foi a primeira nomeação Grammy que a banda recebeu.

For the Love of the Game
Em Fevereiro de 2008 a banda lança For the Love of the Game. Um dos regressos às origens é o do seu logotipo que volta ao inicialmente feito, bem conhecidos dos fãs da banda. Atualmente a banda anda em turnê a promover o seu último disco.

SWITCHFOOT

Switchfoot é uma banda de rock alternativo de San Diego, Califórnia. A banda é formada por: Jon Foreman (vocais, guitarra), Tim Foreman (baixo, vocal), Chad Butler (bateria, percussão), Jerome Fontamillas (guitarra, teclados, vocal), e Drew Shirley (guitarra). Conhecidos pelos seus concertos ao vivo bem energéticos, os três guitarristas na frente do conjunto freqüentemente tocam ao mesmo tempo, tirando um som, simultaneamente, sobre a sensibilidade das composições pop de Jon e rematada pelos arranjos de Jerome no sintetizador, que contribui com sua raiz de música industrial para o som da banda. Eles criam o "som Switchfoot", uma trituração melódica de som de camadas pesadas, apresentando uma experimentação eletrônica, e bastante orientada por ataques fortes dos acordes da guitarra; às vezes interpondo com algumas baladas mais suaves ou um som meio espacial também. 

O nome "Switchfoot" é um termo do surf, é quando o surfista troca os pés em cima da prancha e vira na direção oposta. "Nós gostamos de surfar e surfamos a vida toda, então para nós, esse nome faz sentido." (Jon Foreman responde durante intrevista a Jesus Freak Hideout). 

Eles fazem música para pessoas que pensam, com letras tematicamente filosóficas, baseadas em poemas e perspectivas alternativas. Mas também acreditam que a música pode ser aplicada para dois grupos: uma audiência cristã e a outra audiência que é "secular".

A HISTÓRIA

O Switchfoot foi fundado em 1996, com a formação de Jon, seu irmão, Tim, no contra-baixo, e Chad, na bateria. Depois de tocar em apenas alguns shows, a banda foi contratada pela Re:think Records com o nome atual Switchfoot. A gravadora produziu os três de seus primeiros álbuns "Legend of Chin", "New Way to Be Human" e "Learning to Breathe". Dos três primeiros álbuns da banda o "Learning to Breathe" foi o mais bem sucedido. Foi certificado com um disco de ouro da RIAA, e foi nomeado ao GRAMMY de Melhor Álbum de Rock Cristão de 2000. 

Em 2002, uma das quatro músicas do Switchfoot que fez parte do filme "Um amor para Recordar", foi a "Only Hope" interpretada por Mandy Moore durante uma das cenas. No CD da trilha sonora do filme, Mandy Moore canta essa mesma música em dueto com Jon Foreman. Todas as músicas foram incluídas no CD, junto com o cover de Mandy em "Only Hope". O Switchfoot ganhou reconhecimento depois do filme. Esse reconhecimento cobriu seu álbum mais famoso, o "The Beautiful Letdown" que saiu em 2003. Esse vendeu mais de 2,3 milhões de cópias e produziu umas das melhores canções da banda, "Meant to Live", que foi incluída, logo depois, no CD da trilha sonora do filme "Homem Aranha 2", e a música "Dare you to Move", que foi um remake de "I Dare You To Move", do álbum "Learning To Breath", e também do álbum de "Um Amor Para Recordar". A música "This is Home" fez parte da trilha sonora do filme "Príncipe Caspian", produzido pela Walden Media e lançado pela Walt Disney.
 

Em 2009 foi lançado o álbum "Hello Hurricane", o qual foi o ganhador do Grammy 2010 como melhor álbum gospel de rock. Também em 2009 a música "I Dare You To Move" foi trilha sonora do filme "To Save A Life" (Para Salvar Uma Vida).

INFLUÊNCIAS

É evidente nas suas canções as alusões ao trabalho de filósofos como Kierkegaard e Agostinho de Hipona, nas canções: "Sooner Or Later" (Soren's Song)" e "Something More" (Augustine's Confession), respectivamente. "Meant to Live", o sucesso do conjunto, foi inspirado pelo poema de T. S. Eliot, "The Hollow Men", enquanto "Stars", o single do álbum, "Nothing is Sound", brevemente vê as coisas de uma perspectiva do Descartes, de acordo com Jon. 

"Nós nunca nos encaixamos em nenhum tipo de lista de gêneros de música", diz Jon na entrevista dada à Rede de TV VH1. Jon acredita que a diversidade da banda é o forte deles. Eles acreditam que extraem tanto do Police e James Taylor, quanto dos Beatles e Stevie Wonder. Nós nunca cabemos em nenhum gênero de música.

SWITCHFOOT E A MÚSICA CRISTÃ

Switchfoot freqüentemente é mencionada como uma banda de rock cristão, em grande parte devido ao envolvimento da banda na cena do rock cristão no início de sua carreira. Mas a banda sempre rejeitou este "rótulo". "Para nós, o que conta é a fé, não o gênero", diz Jon Foreman. "Nós sempre fomos abertos e honestos quanto a procedência de nossas canções. Para nós, estas canções são para todos. Nos rotular de rock cristão cria uma caixa que se fecha, deixando muitas pessoas de fora, e excluindo-as. Isto não é o que nós queremos fazer. Música sempre abriu a minha cabeça, e isto é o que a gente quer."

Como se espera, a letra de Jon evita evangelizar (explicitamente) ou fazer declarações exclusivas de Fé, ou ainda qualquer menção de Jesus Cristo. Em vez disto, ele questiona o "status quo", investigando questões existencialistas através do diálogo socrático, no qual ele responde perguntas com mais perguntas, explorando frustrações, ou simplesmente sendo inspirador. Esta maneira de abordar sua audiência resulta freqüentemente neles sendo descritos como uma banda de pessoas que gostam de pensar. A poesia de Jon é saudada pelos fans e críticos do tipo pela sua honestidade sincera, a qual é evidente pela avaliação dele da condição humana, e na disposição dele de não simplesmente abraçar a sua fé, mas expressar dúvidas também. Como conseqüência, a base dos fans da banda transcende crenças e estilos de vidas diferentes. Como nos dias de sua gravadora Indie, eles ainda são distribuidos as lojas cristãs através da Sparrow Records, portanto ainda estão sendo apresentados nas rádios e paradas de sucessos cristãs, como também são presenteados com o Dove Awards, apesar de que eles assinaram contrato com a Columbia Records.

"Ter assinado com a Columbia foi uma realização de algo que nós queríamos desde o início" Jon explica. "Quando nós assinamos o contrato com a Re:think Records, uma gravadora independente, o objetivo era fazer nossa música chegar a todos. Mas, quando a Sparrow (um selo cristão), comprou a Re:think Records, ficou claro que nossa música não iria alcançar todo mundo. Como um cristão, eu tenho muito a dizer dentro das paredes da Igreja. Mas também, como um cristão, eu tenho muito a dizer, igualmente, sobre a vida em geral… Então, para ser capaz de estar na Columbia e na Sparrow nos fez sentir como a realização dos dois lados do que a gente tinha a dizer. É um sonho que se tornou realidade: ser capaz de ter canções que estão do lado de fora da caixa." 

Após o lançamento do álbum "The Beautiful Letdown", a banda temporariamente parou de tocar em festivais cristãos e de dar entrevistas a organizações de princípios cristãos, visto que eles perceberam que a especulação sobre a fé deles era uma distração com a música que eles queriam fazer. 

Três anos depois, eles retornaram a tocar em festivais cristãos e até apareceram na capa da revista CCM, algo que eles recusavam fazer por anos. A revista originalmente chamada "Contemporary Christian Magazine", e após 2007 "CCM", passou a significar: "Christ Community Music".

TURNÊ NA AMÉRICA LATINA

Em 2010 a banda faz pela primeira vez uma turnê pela América Latina. Switchfoot passou pelo Brasil em Setembro nas cidades de São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto e Goiânia. A turnê também passou pela Costa Rica, Guatemala, Colombia e Argentina.

CURIOSIDADES

A música "Dare You to Move" foi cantada na semifinal da 7ª temporada do programa "American Idol", por David Cook, um vencedor no Reality show. 

O Switchfoot fez uma música e um vídeoclipe para o filme "As Crônicas de Nárnia: Príncipe Caspian" (2008) chamada "This Is Home". 

A música "Dare You to Move" também pode ser ouvida no episódio 08 da 1ª temporada de One Tree Hill.

SEVENTH AVENUE

Seventh Avenue é uma banda cristã de power metal. A banda começou em 1989, na Alemanha, com alguns adolescentes inspirados por bandas de metal pesado, querendo fazer suas próprias músicas. Um CD foi lançado em um pequeno selo. Dois anos mais tarde, o vocalista deixou a banda e, em seguida, o guitarrista Herbie Langhans tomou o lugar como um vocalista. Devido à mudança da banda, eles começaram a pensar em um novo nome; "Seventh Avenue" foi escolhido em um acordo mútuo. Em 1993, eles lançam sua primeira demo: "First Strike". A manifestação do público foi muito mais forte do que o esperado, assim seguido pelo número de concertos ao vivo.

Um ano depois eles estavam planejando seu novo álbum "Rainbowland". No entanto, devido a problemas internos na banda, o lançamento foi adiado. O segundo guitarrista de repente deixou a banda. Então, Herbie também começou a tocar guitarra. Depois de alguns meses o álbum foi lançado, mais uma vez com um grande sucesso. Em 1996, a banda assinou um contrato para dois álbuns com a Treasure Hunt Records. Imediatamente, começaram a gravação de seu próximo álbum "Tales of Tales". Em 1997 o baterista Louis Schock deixou a banda. Mike Pflüger tomou seu lugar. Andi Gutjahr foi contratado como músico convidado para o álbum "Southgate", que foi lançado em 1998.

Em 1999 William Hieb também deixou a banda. Então, Herbie e Mike ficavam sozinhos. Mas pouco tempo depois eles encontraram outro baixista e alguém para a segunda guitarra, ou seja, Geronimo Stade e Florian Gottsleben. Após um curto período de tempo, a gravação foi seguida por vários concertos. Como no Brasil, a banda alcançado notável popularidade que adquiriu o rótulo Mega Hard Records o licenciamento de direitos para a América do Sul sobre os álbuns, para que os álbuns estivessem disponíveis diretamente no Brasil. No final de 2001 começaram as gravações para o álbum "Between The Worlds". Em setembro de 2002, a banda partiu para uma turnê ao Brasil onde lançou o chamado "WMetal Shows", que foi organizado pela Mega Hard Records. Voltando à Alemanha, assinaram um contrato com o rótulo Massacre Records, e em 2003 o álbum "Between The Worlds", e em 2004 o álbum "Eternals" foram lançados. O baixista Geronimo deixou a banda e Markus Beck tomou seu lugar. O álbum "Terium", seu primeiro álbum conceitual, foi lançado em 28 de março de 2008 pela Massacre Records, e enfatiza belas melodias, ao mesmo tempo que oferece um som mais pesado do que nos lançamentos anteriores. Em 16 março 2011 eles anunciaram estar trabalhando em seu novo projeto,de acordo com Mike continua em um estilo bruto, mas ainda sendo algo novo, ainda não se tem data.

Estilo musical
Seventh Avenue enfatiza sobre clássicos da música de metais pesados, tocando um híbrido de velocidade e potência metal. Sua música tipicamente consiste de muita velocidade nos toques de bateria, guitarra melódica e épica, melodias e harmonias com duetos de guitarra, juntamente com vibrantes e cativante vocais. Sua música raramente contém teclados, o instrumento foi mais aparente nas suas últimas obras. Sua música pode ser considerada metal cristão, porque muitas vezes chama os seus temas a partir da Bíblia.

Herbie Langhans e Andi Gutjahr, juntamente com outros membros, produziram um álbum tributo em 1998, intitulado "A Tribute To The Past", com o nome "Treasure Seekers". O álbum destaca-se pela influência de bandas como Bloodgood e Stryper.
